Look! I’m commenting! Thank you for the you rules! The funny thing is, I hadn’t been picked until recently, but you did give me the last two “at random” shout outs, which I really enjoyed!

I loved the topic of celebrity voices for pets! Punim was kind of easy. I needed the voice of an actor who is suave, handsome and sweet, with a total goofy side who will just fuck you up if you look at him wrong. That actor is Jon Hamm.

My doggie before Punim was a beautiful Blue Healer named Nicki, who was named after Nikita Khrushchev because of a special fondness she had for my shoes. She was thankfully nothing like him in personality. Whenever I thought of her voice, I always heard the character of Marcy – Peppermint Patty’s friend from the Peanuts specials. Slightly confused, young, sweet and innocent. That was my Nicki girl.

Before that, living at home, my parents had two Dobermans. One was exactly like you would picture – cropped ears, well-trained, strong and beautiful. She was a sweet baby with the family, but if anyone else came over, she would circle them like a shark and drool, waiting to get her fangs into them. She would be voiced by Tamara Dobson as Cleopatra Jones. Now the other Dobie had long ears and was incredibly stupid. Sweet dog, fun to play with, but just… dumb. Not a mean bone in her. I imagine Goldie Hawn in her Laugh-In days would have been a good match.

My epitaph, should anyone ever decide to bury me decently, will be, “It’s a movie, goddammit!”

  3. Capt. A says:

    Oxford English Dictionary, 1999:

Also †movy. [Abbrev. of moving picture: see -ie, -y6.]
    a. = moving picture; also, a moving-picture show; a cinema; pl. (freq. the movies), motion pictures as an industry, an art-form, or a form of entertainment; a cinema or a cinema-show.

Hey Ladies – I have been a week behind for a couple of months! Thanks for the skipping a week again – I am actually on the right week!!! I typically listen while driving or walking to work from the train – so I have Siri send me texts of things to comment on later. At this point since most are months old, most make absolutely no sense since I was abbreviating whatever I’d say and sometimes Siri doesn’t listen well. A smattering of stuff I don’t remember what it means:
    “Time travel”
    “Sewing kelly bags”
    “Ladybugs”
    “Met sleep”
    “Coke, not pepsi”
    “God man suit”
    “Firewatch”
    “Big shirt biom bust boom”

    Some I actually remember
“Infinity loop” – I got it Stennie – fun to play!!
“80th birthday ideas” He’s probably 81 now. My idea was to have family members write memories about him and give them to him.
“Oosr crossing lies” – that’s post crossing lies – Stennie – I absolutely love that you make up s**t . I totally may have to get into post crossing just to send out stuff that I wish I was and stuff I wish I was doing, etc.
“voice pudding” – that’s my cat. I pick Rosie O’Donnell – she has a lot of energy sometimes – I imagine her playing tricks, being fun, playing with toys and then I just imagine Rosie totally running out of steam and sitting on the couch – Pudding just flops on the ground.

Bet – I just finished Gray Mountain – was that a book you recommended?? If so – it was good.

Thanks ladies for keeping it going!! Happy August!
