What a great title for a podcast! I feel so honored!

The sad puppy/kitty shelter story just made me so sad. And the idea that the pets only get 10 days to find their “forever homes,” it’s so awful. To think, Bet, if you’d waited a few more days, Milo could have been…well he’s a very lucky puppy.

Stennie, I know how you feel about the whole Netflix thing. Even though I’ve only ever had the streaming service, I think the new DVD website is just plain LAME! And I can understand how you’d feel especially betrayed after having just defended them. I think a good rule of thumb is: never stick up for any web entity or corporation. They’re just going to rub your face in it.

I guess I’ll have to pop your sample toothpaste in the mail to you, since I won’t be seeing you in a couple of weeks. Which reminds me, I was at Haggen’s today, browsing the dental aids aisle, and they didn’t even carry Aim. I guess that either says something about Aim, or something about Haggen’s.

I wonder if I’d be able to enjoy a single bite of my last supper. I’d certainly stuff my fucking face. I think I’d order every kind of expensive cheese there is, and a selection of crackers. And a few bottles of white wine. That counts as a meal, right?

No time to waste! Lots to say!

Misty of Chinca-whatever: it was read to us in increments in perhaps 3rd grade. The girls loved it. For me, I can never shake the name of the location since i got to hear it enunciated perhaps 4000x.

I also have become a Justin Timberlake fan (acting only category).

Our infant seat is in the passenger rear. Mostly so I can easily reach dropped toys, pacifiers, beer cans, etc.

Hey Stennie, my chosen EPL soccer team sucks, but I don’t know if I can quit them.

If you get a chance, try and catch the film THE GUARD. Much in the vein of IN BRUGES and featuring that film’s Brendan Gleeson. Irreverent and offbeat joy.

Crap, why don’t you guys do a Movie Mashup quiz? Oh, because I’m still not done with it. The anticipation is killing me! At this pace, it’ll be 2012 before it’s done.

  3. Patrick says:

Oh! And I’ll bet all you teeth-brushers think you’re better than me, don’t you? You and your fancy interweb Gleam.

I’m sticking with gargling bleach, thank you very much!

We must not have been Hucklebug listeners during earlier discussions about The Choir. We recently watched all three seasons on Comcast On Demand for free. We are big fans of Gareth Malone and understand what a difference a great choirmaster can make. I appreciate the good musical training I received in English public schools and despite not having marching band, I got a lot out of my choral experiences (all extra curricula and not part of any regular classwork). Northolt (The Choir, Season 1) and South Oxhey (Season 3) are both within five miles of my home.

I first sang at the Royal Albert Hall in high school with the Harrow Girls Choir (all the public schools in Harrow combined their girls’ choirs) to premiere a piece by Malcolm Arnold with accompaniment by a colliery band. The title was either Freedom or Songs for Freedom; he had children write poems about freedom and set them to music. We also made it in to a record — not, though, at Abbey Road.

I sang in a choir in nursing school that rehearsed at the hospital and was conducted by a surgeon! He loved Elgar; we performed The Dream of Gerontius in the space for which it was written, Westminster Cathedral (not the Abbey). We also sang at the Royal Albert Hall (Messiah) and the Royal Festival Hall.

And just for a little gossip…..My nephew’s wife works for the BBC and when they were here visiting us earlier this month, we discovered that she, too, is a fan. We discussed whether we thought Gareth was gay or not because we noticed him wearing a wedding band in Season 3 and she did not know. However, good ol’ Wikopedia reports that he is “married to Becky, an English teacher, and they live in NW London; their daughter Esther was born on 9/22/10.”

  5. Janet says:

    (Wikipedia, of course, not Wikopedia!)

Speaking of colliery bands, one of my favorite movies is Brassed Off. I trust you ladies have seen it!

  6. siskita says:

    Hey ladies!

I’m slowly catching up on the Hucklebug episodes after a week of tech and shows, so HELLO!!!!!! I’m listening to this, the most recent ep literally backstage in my dressing room πŸ™‚ Didn’t want to miss out on a shoutout…

and yes we opened this weekend (previews) and will have press opening October 19th.

We are currently re-casting “City of Angels” with Muppet characters. Can’t tell if Miss Piggy should be Alaura/Carla or Gabbi/Bobbi. Kermit as Stein is obvious; I think some singing chickens could be Angel City 4!

Hope I got this comment in time!!!!

  7. LilyG says:

Janet — I loved Brassed Off! It’s a Veddy English Film.

Happy Birthday, Stennie! I’ve been a little busy — by the time you record this, I may or may not be a homeowner again. I really want this townhouse, but at the same time, every house lost is one move I don’t have to make. I’m always okay with not moving.
