Well, to be clear, my real estate agent is great — it was the seller’s agent that was playing major games. I have been joking with my real estate agent that we should go on House Hunters, because then we can take an unreasonable budget, make outrageous demands, and suddenly we’ll get a house, even though there is almost nothing in our market, ever. If we go on teevee, magically these properties will pop up.

Condolences over the loss of Seth. This has been a week of random losses — my friend’s boss lost his wife as she was crossing the street in front of the zoo last week. You never know what’s going to happen when you get up in the morning.

    Hi Ladeees!

First up off the bat and right away I must tell you that I LOVE that Simon’s Cat episode. The new kitty is way cuter than Nermal. (Remember him?)

Then – songs I hate by bands I love – I’ll stick to bands you’ve mentioned:

Marvin Gaye – Let’s Get it On. <— anything but a turn-on song. It isn't sexy, it's sleazy.

Squeeze – all of the ones you mentioned, especially BCIB. Oh how I hate that whiny song. Yuck. Farfisa Beat. Too hectic. Electric Trains. So what if he says "pubic hair?" It is still an anoying song.

The Elv – I'm with Heidi – So Like Candy is awesome. As for him not putting out anything good recently, have either of you heard Profit, Profane, and Sugar Cane? Worth your time.

However, Clown Strike from Brutal Youth and Daddy Can I Turn This from When I Was Cruel are just awful.

The Beatles – Much of the White Album. Sgt Pepper's Lonely Heart Club's Band – the song. The "song" just sucks. Fixing a Hole – WTF?! The Long and Winding Road. Blech. I don't really care much about It Won't Be Long. I don't hate it, I don't like it. It just is.

Ohh, and welcome to Angry Birds, Bet! Heidi, your sound effects comments made me LOL. You make an excellent pig-laughing-at-you sound.

    Ladies,

Hats off to Sethie, who sounded like he filled this world with good times and good vibes – so sorry to hear about his passing, and it seems like he inspired wonderful things.

Stennie, thank you on behalf of Marquee Five, for the You Rule!!! We’re so excited to have our release party/concert in a few weeks! However, you’ll probably rescind the You Rule once you hear our Simon & Garfunkel mashup track, which uses “Scarborough Fair” as the base song. I won’t be insulted if you hit “skip,” after hearing your diatribe against it πŸ˜‰ However, our version is amaze-balls beautiful, so please listen to it at least once!

There are very few Beatles songs that I can hate. I like “You Know My Name” just because it’s silly and theatrical and off the wall. I can sit and close my eyes and imagine them smoking pot and then hitting record.

    Cheerios,

    Si

  4. Very rushed, no time (as usual), but wanted to say:

Bet, I’m so very sorry for your loss. I can’t really imagine how it feels to lose someone like that, but it’s clear from your occasional comments about him over the years, and from listening to you last week, just how dear he was–to you and everyone he touched–and how dearly he’ll be missed. Kudos to you for soldiering on like you did. It was a great tribute to your friend.

I suppose it’s too late for a topic suggestion (for this week anyway), but I think a nice Karmic counterbalance to last week’s topic would be to do Favorite Songs by Bands/Groups/Acts/Artists you hate. Might be short, but still a good segment. You gotta aaac-centuate the positive . . . !

Sorry, just catching up with the Hucklebug…. While “You Know My Name…” is not a great song, or even a good one, by any stretch…it does deserve recognition for being the very last recording session The Beatles ever did. In fact, it was only John and Paul in the studio — Ringo and George did not attend — and basically it was like a Sunday afternoon and both guys had nothing better to do than get stoned and jam together just like the good ol’ days. The result was this crazy pastiche of sounds and styles (my fave is Paul’s lounge singer impersonation). The two guys played all the instruments and improvised the arrangements on the spot. It’s very silly, but I love it because you can hear the fun they were having. Maybe they knew it would be their last time to play together.
