  1. Capt. A says:

I switched back to a flip phone after having a smart phone for three months. The smart phone is too damned big, my fingers don’t work well with touch screen, and all I want to do is MAKE AND RECEIVE CALLS, not monitor my goddamned purine levels or find out what the Kardashians are up to.

Also, I’d be lost without my Kindle Fire. I can use it in bed with the lights out, and it’ll turn itself off, not to mention all the free and cheap classics available. I bought the cheap model (“Kindle White” or something like that), but don’t use it. Can’t read it very well in bright light and it’s not illuminated, so I can’t use it in low light or darkness.

  2. Janet says:

One of my favorite places to visit is the state of Utah. We have done a week long road trip there and have had two other short visits while passing through to other destinations. Such a beautiful state!

I want to go to Spain, especially Barcelona, which is supposed to be a great city.

For retiring, my summer retirement home wish would be Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, the town we stayed in last August. For winter, maybe Sanibel, Florida.

  3. Donna says:

One of my favorite places to visit is Washington, D.C. I was just lamenting today about how much I miss going there. Living in Richmond, we used to easily go up and back just for a day trip. Nowadays, the traffic on I-95 is absolutely horrible, all the time, starting around Fredericksburg. So you can’t even go in as far as Alexandria and park to ride the train in; getting to Alexandria is terrible. Once they have good rail options from F’burg, we would certainly take advantage of it!

Foreign country I want to visit: Iceland!

For retirement, I like Janet’s summer idea of Lunenburg or perhaps I would choose the other end of Canada, Vancouver, not to get away from Janet, of course, but only if she agreed! For winter, I am not sure other than I like Bet’s idea of Blacksburg but really, I think any university town would certainly have its advantages with keeping us young.

I do not have a NOOK or a Kindle. I still read books!
