  1. Kelly w/a Y says:

Don’t hate me, if I’m forced to eat a hotdog, I put ketchup on it. I did have a Pink’s hotdog with a ton of crap on it, I think it has onions and chili? The thing was so massive, I couldn’t figure out how to eat it without it falling apart.

OMG – 500 is almost here!!!!!!! Shout it from the rooftops, ladies!

I surprisingly did 3 bucket list items last year: visited Ireland, made it to the very top of Half Dome in Yosemite and skydiving.

  2. Donna says:

Hot dogs? Really? The grand occasion of the 500th episode and it comes down to what we eat on our hotdogs? Okay, I will play along. I am perfectly happy with a hotdog from Double Gates Grocery in Bluefield, Virginia with yellow mustard, Maddie Carter’s secret recipe chili and slaw. Second place would be a hotdog from Harmony Acres with the Williams’ family’s also secret recipe chili and yellow mustard. (What is it with Bluefield families and their secret hot dog chili recipes?)

And sorry to recall a sadness while you are celebrating the Big 500, but I remembered a comment I wanted to make about Anthony Bourdain. I know Bet knows this because it was in the Bluefield paper. If you have watched his Parts Unknown episode filmed in West Virginia, he borrowed a coal miner’s lunch pail to take with him down in to the mine where he had lunch and chatted with the miners, some second and third generation. Apparently, that lunch pail was never returned to the lending family but a day before he died, the family received a package, a new lunch cooler and the lid was written, “To Bob, with many thanks, Anthony Bourdain.” Bourdain had even drawn a chef’s knife on it. I, too, was very shocked by his suicide and I thought about it, him and depression a lot in the following days. If you haven’t watched the New Jersey shore episode, do so; it was a great episode, too, but heartbreakingly sad to watch after his death.

Okay, so enough sadness. Congratulations on Episode 500! I can’t tell you how much I enjoy listening to you guys. I often feel like I am sitting in a restaurant and have scored a seat in a booth next to you all and I get to eavesdrop on your very eclectic conversation. I think the range of emotion that you all share is what keeps us listening.

So, to put a twist on your Bucket List wish, let me suggest my wish for you both. Bet, I wish you a trip to Bellingham to visit Stennie, Lincoln and Scout (and the other HB nation members). And Stennie, I wish you a trip to Bluefield to visit Bet & Milo.

  3. Janet says:

To be honest, I like a good burger better than a hotdog; I like the fixin’s better than the dog — raw onions, chili, cheese & slaw. I also really liked the true Chicago dogs we ate at Portillo’s in Chicago.

Go Three Lions! And “don’t forget the tweeeeezer!” (Love those commercials!)

    Happy 500th!

  4. Michelle says:

@Janet – Portillo’s is still HUGELY popular here. I was a big fan of the chocolate cake, personally. But erm, once I found out the main ingredient is mayonnaise, I couldn’t bring myself to eat it.

No surprise, hot dogs – not my jam. No comment.

Happy 500th episode! I hope there are celebratory adult libations being enjoyed during recording, and that you have lots o’ fun. I love listening to you two, you’re the highlight of my week. I cannot beliefe how long we’ve been friends…#squeeze was one of the first regular social thing I ever did online.
