Stennie – so sorry to you and your family for your loss. Very sad.
Serial – it’s a real story – someone contacted Sarah K. from This American Life podcast about investigating the conviction of a family member/friend (I forget the relationship) for the murder of his former girl friend (these kids were in high school) so then she calls the guy in jail and gets his story and investigates her opinion of different people’s stories of what happened that day and the emotions of the main players in the story and the actual locations in Baltimore (how far was it from the school to the Best Buy to the place the body was buried, etc) and so the episodes each focus on one part of the case (like the defense lawyer or the state’s main witness, etc). I found it really interesting in that way you never really know ‘who did it’ but it’s all about the evidence that is presented for or against. So – definitely real – it happened in 1999 I believe.
Did either of you see the facebook video of the Ohio State band at the game Jan 1 – it had a space theme – some great star trek references – I’ve tried to find it on youtube but their view was too low, the one that I saw. If you like marching band shows it’s a cute one!!
OK Oct 2010, I’m going to try Episode 205 to see if I can find the hand gliding story. Wow – 205 – that’s a long time ago!! You guys will be cruising to 400 soon! I haven’t listened to any old episodes in a while so that will be fun!
Random thought: Sometimes while posting a comment, when I see the small WordPress logo at the bottom of the page, my first thought is that the podcast is sponsored by Volkswagen. I’m always impressed for a few seconds π
Alright, alright, now that “Hello Sue” has let the cat out of the bag, we will make it official on The Hucklebug: we are getting married in June! Sue has already asked us if we have invited “the Hucklebug girls.” So, yes, we will be “literally” inviting you later but for now, as they say in the wedding business, “Save the Date.”
Okay, not so easy to “save the date” when you don’t know the date, right? June 14. Sunday, June 14. Flag day.
