Stennie – Oh my, yes, go back and watch Legally Blond again. And if you don’t spot Linda, I’ll tell you afterward who she was in the film. She was awesome.
Favorite dessert – I’m with Bet. Being from PA, I grew up eating at Chi Chi’s. And that was my go to dessert, fried ice cream. Here’s the recipe: http://www.food.com/recipe/the-original-chi-chis-mexican-fried-ice-cream-225371
Today as an adult, mostly anything with caramel. Caramel sundae, caramel lattes, any kind of chocolate covered goodness with a gooey caramel center. (Side note: I grew up saying “Car-mull”, but is it really pronounced “Care-a-mel?”
And I like beignets….but only because I miss Stennie. π
Stennie – thanks for the Wii U info – very helpful!! I’ve gotten my Wii up out of the basement, brushed off the 3-4 years of cobwebs and have been playing mario kart, darts, a marble game, and super mario bros and the graphics are definitely not HD! Still having fun though, so just trying to decide if I want to invest more $$!
Suggestion for you both if you haven’t read yet – since you both like Tina & Amy – their books bossypants and yes, please were great audiobooks!
Mmmm…I like the idea of Bojack horseman – may give me a reason to try a free month of Netflix!
Desserts – vanilla ice cream with nuts, chocolate chip cookies, most things with chocolate as long as not too rich, plain cheesecake. What I eat most of would be oreo cookies (Thins) and also lactose-free vanilla yogurt with fresh strawberries. Quite yummy!
Desserts? Did someone say desserts? My favorite as a child was on Sundays when we would have “a crumble” with custard — my fav was a rhubarb crumble.
I don’t really have a favorite now. I frequently get a restaurant’s dessert and then am disappointed.
I do enjoy marzipan. I received a Christmas gift of marzipan fruits and I am carefully eating one per day, only about 35 calories.
As for desserts, as a kid, we practically always had a homemade cake in the house. My favorites of Mom’s cakes were chocolate cake with chocolate icing and one called an oatmeal cake which had an icing similar to a German chocolate cake icing. I also loved (and still love) banana pudding. I can remember as a child once going to a family reunion of my maternal grandfather’s people in Carroll County, Virginia. We went to a church service followed by “dinner on the grounds” or a potluck. There were at least five different banana puddings and Mom and I reveled in trying them all.
We have had some memorable desserts traveling — Marion blackberry cobbler in Washington and Rhubarb Mess in Cambridge England — but I agree with Kelly about the caramel. Even better, salted caramel!
