I’m always commenting a day late!!! Comment comment comment here! Finally am getting it in on time!

I still like my topic of songs to perform as cabaret – maybe the next two weeks you can think on it.

It’s true – you are a robot if you don’t cry your eyes out watching Cinema Paradiso.  And I believe I saw “Ran”a long time ago with my parents (@thepete – we haven’t seen that together, have we?!?!)

It’s true – see a double feature of Airplane and Zero Hour, and you will laugh your butt off at the ways in which Airplane takes from the 1950’s movie.  Down to the huge collar on the kid.  It actually doesn’t matter if you watch Zero Hour before Airplane or vice-versa.  You’ll see the similarities easily.

From merely my childhood memories, I’d add Labyrinth, A Christmas Story, Beetlejuice, The Dark Crystal, The Princess Bride, Empire Strikes Back, Tron, Clue, The Secret of NIMH, The Muppets Take Manhattan, and Little Shop of Horrors to my list of 80’s movies (no matter how flawed any of those are, I loved them as a kid).  Then the ones I visited as an adult: The Terminator, UHF, Poltergeist, The Thing, Aliens, Blade Runner – all really good movies.  Would take me a while to research & rank as you guys did!  I agree about Back to the Future, Raiders, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Cinema Paradiso, etc.

@thepete & I watched Topper & Topper Returns.  Some cool laughs in those, and seeing Rochester from the Jack Benny program was great.  Cary Grant is just charming and awesome in everything!!!

    Cheerio,

    Siskita

This episode was far too short. I hope the bloopers reel next week is at least an hour.

I don’t think I could limit my favorite movies from the 80s to just 10. However, some that you missed:

Rain Man – the only good movie Tom Cruise has ever made

Dead Poet’s Society – Captain, my captain!

Stripes – Don’t order the Schnitzel, they’re using Schnauzer.

Ghost Busters – Let’s show this prehistoric bitch how we do things downtown.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (Bueller? Bueller?)

Good Morning Vietnam (and what a soundtrack!)

    and, When Harry Met Sally

Yes, yes, all main stream, but all very good.

I think you should have Mike on one more time – I’d like to hear his high- and low lights, plus his fuckoffs.

I can’t believe I’ve had two weeks to comment and I’m still behind. Hello!

I have to think about 80s movies. Several of the ones I thought I’d use were from 1990, (although you could say they were conceived in the 80s).

I agree on Raiders of the Lost Ark. It’s held up well

Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khaaaaaaaaan

    Starstruck

Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension

    Sixteen Candles

Yeah, they’re kind of goofy, but so were the 80s

Okay, I’m so tired, that even though I went to the DVD cabinet to check, I forgot to type “A Room With A View”

I don’t like commenting unless I listen to the show.

I feel stupid commenting about anything specific though since I’m so late!

I will say that “Raiders of the Lost Ark” is one of my favorite films smile  I didn’t think any of the sequels were required or should even be considered.

OH and “Cinema Paradiso” is tied for my favorite film of all time with “Das Boot”.

Best “next episode” promo EVER, Mike! WELL DONE!!

    I enjoyed John Byner, too.
