    Re. photographing dead people.

That goes back even to the daguerreotype days, 1839 onward. It was a common practice, especially in Britain, at the time. Seems to have been carried with the immigrants to the American south, the Scotch-English, and never died out.

In Ohio, when I was a kid, this was very common among those people migrating to the north.

Re: dead people – I’m quite certain that there was a picture of a mother/grandmother in their house in my grandfathers pictures (lived in Louisiana). I think maybe it was because the coffins were often in the house for the wake, etc. At least that was what this picture was – not at a funeral home.

Re: This or That: hamburgers/hot dogs – definitely hamburgers. I can’t remember any more right now.

Suggested podcasts – I like Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me and when I first tried to find it – it wouldn’t load. So instead I downloaded Ask Me Another which I really like and have listened to while exercising for a year or so. Then they suggested TED Radio Hour – this is a really cool podcast if you want to think – there have been great ones like do we need humans and about privacy – and they usually have clips from 3/4 TED talks and then have the speakers also on the show. And then that one suggested NPR pop culture happy hour which I had never heard of and enjoyed on the train this morning. So – just a suggestion for some NPR shows/podcasts if you have some time!

Bet: You are welcome – that made me laugh when I saw it! Interesting enough – that was one of those strange delayed Amazon order things because it was supposed to be there for your birthday but glad it made it late so you could continue to celebrate!!

Long time no listen! Yes, I know I suck. I now have the time and inclination to get caught up. Not that my inclination was lacking, it was other’s inclinations to have me do anything BUT listen to “those two people I don’t get all” that stood in the way.
Thus, I have zero relevant input apart from DAMN YOU STENNIE! I unplugged from cable and now I can’t find a god-forsaken streaming link that’s worth a fuck to watch BPL. I don’t care if the match is a week old. Live would be lovely, but I can’t find shit without a subscription, or “not available” in your Ignorant Padded Football Country, or 30 redirects.
So damn you Stennie, and UP EVERTON! (Shitty collared kits and all)

OK, I’m behind again, because I took a trip to T-town to visit Siskita before she left for Florida. So, just a couple quick comments from ep 346:

Yes, it was pretty shocking to see Ramis go. He still had more to give us, I’m sure. I’ve heard that his son makes movies but I don’t know if they’re any good. My buddy Stew and I went down to the Ghostbusters firehouse a couple days after Ramis passed and the pile of twinkies and flowers had shrunk to just a small grouping of them. It was sad, but nice to make the pilgrimage nonetheless.

    Now, onto Ep 347:

FYI, I originally saw FAQATT on Netflix. I get really frustrated with how things come and go from there. I wish there was a stable, standard deal that every movie and TV show could sign for. So, when a show starts on a service we would know exactly how many years we had to watch them. Hell, it’s not like Netflix doesn’t know how long they hold the rights for each property, couldn’t they just put the “expiration date” in with the film/tv show listing when you click on it?

I feel like I mentioned previously that my favorite apple is macintosh (which was my favorite long before I ever owned a Mac).

Where is the link to the S&M swing chair for the rest of us? πŸ˜‰

    Escargot or frogs legs?

    Disney or Warner Brothers? (cartoons)

    Movie scores or soundtracks?

That last question is a general question to you both AND to next week’s topic because, for me, score: the original Star Wars; soundtrack: Cowboy Bebop: Knocking on Heaven’s Door It’s an anime film, but the music is from a BRILLIANT composer called Yoko Kanno. Here is a link to the Cowboy Bebop theme that she wrote: http://youtu.be/T6zDfxZ4NcE Here is the animation and audio from the closing credits to the movie: http://youtu.be/i2rh134k7N4

I think the music from this film and the TV series it’s a spin-off from is some of the greatest music of all time. I can’t listen to just part of just about any song from the Cowboy Bebop audiography (??). I hear a few notes and I stop what I’m doing and listen until the song is over. Then I have to fight the urge to listen to the rest of the music. πŸ™‚

I think you guys did pretty well for this being the “tired” episode.

    Happy Pi Day!

Okay, still behind…….almost thru Episode 345. Loving reliving the Olympics through your comments. We love the snowboard cross, too. I do not look forward to having lyrics in the figure skaters music mainly because they already aren’t synchronized enough to the music for my taste and I think it will be even worse and obvious when they get a little of on their timing. I always enjoy Chris Collingworth’s comments because, knowing him from football, he has really come a long way in his respect for the Olympic sports and Olympians and he readily admits it. We always enjoy Mary Carillo’s stories and Russia offered such a rich culture for her to explore. But overall, Johnny & Tara were far and above the best part of these Olympics. I really don’t think NBC will be able to justify using Scott Hamilton & Sandra B…. for the next Olympics, even in Prime Time. Getting to watch ALL of the competitors on the NBC Sports Channel was great but having Tara & Johnny talking the whole time was the absolute best. I am sure NBC was a little nervous about Johnny but he absolutely owns who he is and if you don’t like him, you are not trying. And speaking of another analyst who came from a traditional macho American sport, Terry Gannon, or should I say, Terrence Gannon, did a good job trying to keep T&J focused.

The USA beat Canada in ice sledge hockey today and will play Russia for the gold medal tomorrow. And Bet, do you know about the paralympic skier from Bristol, TN?!

And about documentaries, we have said this before but I will repeat it. You would both really like the HBO documentary “Casting By.”

    Happy St. Patrick’s Day, too.
