P.S. Catching up on previous topics: Two of my favorite movie soundtracks (not scores) are “Lost In Translation” and Tarantino’s “Jackie Brown.” Both albums use songs and music to create a mood, tell the story, and represent the emotions of the characters.

Two documentaries I want to recommend: “Sound City” — which is Nirvana/Foo Fighters musician Dave Grohl’s loving tribute to the late recording studio where so many classic albums were made. I watched the movie three times already. The soundtrack alone is worth a view! It’s not available on most of the services, so I found the movie’s website and you can buy the download there for about $7.

The second documentary is “A Brief History of Time” by Errol Morris — it’s his profile of the life and work of renowned physicist Stephen Hawking. I’m not sure what was more fascinating: Mr. Hawking’s theories about the universe or his personal struggle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease).

Possible topic (if you haven’t done this one yet!): Best and Worst (or favorite) movie franchises or series (e.g. Star Wars, Tarzan, Godfather, Godzilla (^_^), James Bond, etc.)

Topic ideas – maybe you’ve already done some of these??
    Favorite reality series
    Favorite desserts
Favorite food my mom (dad) made while growing up.
Favorite place to eat out as a kid.
Next 4 books you really want to read.
When have you been most proud of yourself??
    OK – I’m done!

Yeah, Sten, you may be right about it being Reitman’s son and not either of Ramis’ sons. Jason Reitman has done loads of stuff. I honestly don’t know what’s in my brain sometimes and this is definitely one of those times. It’s a crowded place, my brain…

Regarding escargot, you’re right, I could just get a big cup filled with melted butter and garlic and stick a straw in it (Mmmmm!) but then where would the protein come from? πŸ˜‰ Actually, I just realized, I’ll probably be having escargot tomorrow night as my dad is in town and he’s taking me to his favorite French restaurant in the city, Chez Napoleon. He’s been going there since the late 60s, I think.

Oh and I am listening to the HB on Thursday instead of Friday this week because on Democracy Now today they had a big long interview with Errol Morris about his new film “The Unknown Known.” Since it was Errol Morris, I thought of you, Stennie. It was a fairly interesting interview. I recommend checking it out, but it’s a little hard to sit through 20+ minutes of Morris. He would definitely benefit from editing out all the times he said “ehm” and “uhhhhhh” and similar things. I’m both excited and hesitant about his new movie. It just seems a little soon to trot that fuckhead out again. Especially after what Morris says in the interview about Rummy not having the word “apology” in his lexicon.

    Topic suggestions:

Favorite thing to eat between two pieces of bread

Movie or TV show or album you’ve been most disappointed by (for me, it’s “The Sixth Sense” for movie–Rod Serling did it better, the finale of the “Battlestar Galactica” the remake–Rod Serling did it better too, and for album, Pink Floyd’s “The Division Bell.” I don’t think Rod Serling was involved in music at all.)

Aren’t we due for another Harrison Ford award announcement? I nominate Harrison Ford for being in “Enders Game” and even considering another Indiana Jones movie.

I am contemplating moving to NearlyFreeSpeech.net which I currently use for domain registering and pointing, but not so far for hosting. I’ve heard they are good for hosting and suuuper cheap. However, if you want tech support, it costs extra. So, that’s a little daunting to me. My current host has been great but when things go south, they suck. Anyway, so, I recommend NFS but only so far as I have used them, which is basically for clerical stuff. They are VERY bare bones. But I have yet to have any trouble with them. I think I host 7 or 8 domains with them and they all point to my current host, which I’ve been having a lot of trouble with lately.

I don’t get watches-as-status-symbols, generally. However, I did get a Pebble smart watch for Christmas this past year and I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I think it’s cool that I have one–cool beyond the actual functions of the watch. To a certain degree with Google Glass, too.

I did not know the Libra story. I vaguely remember hearing a different explanation for that, but I can’t remember what it is. It’s probably sitting in my brain right next to the son of the famous funny director I can’t think of.

I think the only good that could come from protesting at Phelps’ funeral is that his family and supporters could see how much it sucks and how it’s really not a good way to sway people. However, I’ve seen some of Phelps’ crew in person and they seem unswayable, themselves. Though, as a devout atheist, I feel like it would be fun to get a bunch of atheists to go protest his funeral with signs that say “it’s OK, there is no Hell” and “He protested gays his entire life and all he got was this nothingness.” or some things similar.

Whoa–back to my usual long form. Sorry! You can split this one over two or more episodes if you want. Like a good sandwich spread (NOT Miracle Whip!).

Hey, so that web host I mentioned, nearlyfreespeech.net, is down. They say it’s temporary and I’ve never had a problem with them before, but I wanted you guys to be aware. I’ve never had any problems and the domains I have shunted through their services are forwarding just fine. I just can’t log in to manage my domains right now. Not sure why. I’ve been with them for a couple years and this is the first problem I’ve had with them, so I’m sticking with them. Anyway, knowledge is power!!

  6. Kellie with an ie says:

Godaddy.com. Kevin’s used it for some stuff. Says its pretty darn good.

I have episodes 107, 171 and 172. Seems like I have most of the first 200. Must have been the golden episodes. I believe I’ve been deleting them ever since. Let me know the best way to get them to you.

  7. Michelle says:

Oh no! Not Jenga! Just so we’re clear, that’s not why I’m commenting tonight. I just finally have enough time – and enough guilt – to log on to my computer after work.

I’ve been traveling to a lot of shit-hole places for work and I’m a bit behind on the shows.

Sadly, you guys seem really tired of doing the show. Do you hate it that much? Is the fun all gone?

Whatever happened to the video we were going to make like Bob Dylan’s? If you remember, I was the first to comment on it, asking if I had to animate Punim’s mouth. Did we ever pick a song? I’m thinking “Happy” would be a great song to do.

I, too, will be going to see Eddie. He’ll be here for THREE days in June. I’m taking an uninitiated friend. Pity Eddie doesn’t dress up anymore for his shows. That adds to the fun.

Watches – not a status symbol over here, but I do have a rather nice one I bought at a swanky outlet store when I started having to wear suits to work. It is white gold and has a dark face and black lines instead of numbers. It is incredibly impractical, because I can’t read it in most lighting situations, but it is pretty.

Soundtracks – I can’t believe you didn’t mention a single Wes Anderson movie soundtrack. With the exception of the Grand Budapest Hotel, I think I love the music from each of his movies. My favorites are the Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (David Bowie in Portuguese) and the very Kinks heavy Darjeeling limited.

RIP Smoky – it’s so sad when a pet dies. I’m so glad he went in his bed, all comfy and safe. I am already terrified of when Punim has to cross that rainbow bridge. It’s obsessive, morbid and odd, but I think about it a lot.
